A new relationship status – comic Jaclyn Marfuggi joins Stassi today for good reason

On this episode of Straight Up With Stassi, Stassi is joined by Jaclyn Marfuggi, who — fun fact — just so happens to have the same wonderful UPS guy (named Alfredo) as our girl Stassi.

“Alfredo better be your maid of honor”

“That was a nice little segue,” Stassi laughs, at Jaclyn’s half-sarcastic suggestion. “So, when I was driving around this morning, I was like, ‘Okay, what am I gonna talk about with Jaclyn, I’m overwhelmed, I have no fucking clue, I feel uninspired.’ This happens to me a lot. I think so broadly in terms of coming up with ideas that I feel stuck. It’s like having writers block. Does that happen to you?”

“Yeah, I have to get out of my apartment,” Jaclyn says. “You know what I do? I go running, which you don’t like.”

“Wow, fuck that,” Stassi says. “My energy just really dropped. So when you’re running, that’s when you think of ideas?”

“That’s when I think of jokes,” Jaclyn says. “I listen to music. I think it’s because I’m not really thinking about anything. I’m not just sitting in front of a paper being like, ‘What can I write?'”

“Yeah,” Stassi says, ‘when I take an edible I feel that way.”

“Oh, well, we’ve been spotted.”

“Can we let the cat out of the bag?” Jaclyn asks.

“So you guys, a few months back…” Stassi begins, before backtracking for a second. “Okay, so, I posted about Patrick. Patrick and I have gotten back together. And a few months back, we were at lunch and we sit down and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, that’s Jaclyn.’ And we call her over, and Jaclyn is like, ‘Oh, is, is this a date?! And I’m like, ‘Oh, well, we’ve been spotted.’ And I saw her with her boyfriend who wasn’t a boyfriend at the time.”

“I was mad at him at the time, so I also was not happy to be out then,” Jaclyn recalls. “We were having a talk at that lunch. So you and I were both awkward.”

“Well because I haven’t known what we were,” Stassi remembers. “It was such a slow thing that I was like, ‘Is this officially a date or are we together? I don’t know, and now I don’t know what to tell you Jaclyn.'”

“You guys were SO cute though,” Jaclyn says.

“And embarrassing,” Stassi says.

“Embarrassing moments are the best moments,” Jaclyn says.

“Not really,” Stassi disagrees. “I just remember being like, ‘Well, it’s happening.'”

“You were very open and raw and vulnerable.”

“This feels so weird to even talk about,” Stassi says, referring to her relationship with Patrick. “I’ve had so much anxiety about bringing him up. I’ve done podcasts a bunch of times — and I did one with a therapist — where I started talking about my anxieties and I felt pressure to expose every part of my life. But I feel like I can’t, because I don’t know what some things are, and I don’t want to have to talk through them. Just because Patrick and I became friends again and he watches the dogs every now and again when I’m on vacation and I’m starting to get feelings again, doesn’t mean we’re together. So why am I going to talk about it on my podcast when I don’t even know what it is?”

“And I don’t think you should talk about it until you know what it is,” Jaclyn says.

“But it stressed me out because part of having a podcast is being honest and being real, so I had this emotional/mental breakdown,” Stassi recalls.

“That was one of my favorite episodes of your podcast, by the way,” Jaclyn adds. “You were very open and raw and vulnerable and I think your listeners appreciated that.”

“Well, thank you,” Stassi says.

“Because we feel the same way,” Jaclyn adds.

“That makes me feel better,” Stassi says, “because I felt like a traitor or something.”
